The 2010 Vegetable Basket Program
Did you know that Manna on Main Street is a proud member of the Community Nutrition Coalition? The Coalition is a network of food pantries working together to provide food and nutrition education to those in need in the Greater North Penn / Indian Valley area. Therefore, we can ensure that all our neighbors throughout this extended community have equal access to vital, life sustaining food. In the summer, all of the participating pantries benefit from The Vegetable Basket Program. Through this program, home gardeners can drop off their extra crops every Monday morning at 9 am and ensure that the produce will be distributed to those in need. For the gardeners, it's a convenient way to give back. For the food pantry guests, it's an inexpensive way to feed their families nutritious, locally grown food. For more information, visit the Coalition's website at www.nutritioncoalition.org. To read a newspaper article about the 2009 Vegetable Basket Program, CLICK HERE.
